Conductor : David Ball (1981 - 2002)
David Ball took over the baton from Morgan Hosking. His first concert was in November 1981. Although he had previously conducted a school orchestra, this was his first experience of conducting adult musicians – but it was a resounding success.
David’s roots were in West Cornwall – his grandfather, David Eddy, founded the famous Eddy Bakery in Newlyn which was run by family members until it was closed in 2004.
Under his guidance, the orchestra continued to flourish and there was never a shortage of musicians. He conducted the orchestra for 21 years before handing over to Judith Bailey.
In 2001, David Ball - Mab Kymygieth hag Ilow (Son of Chemistry and Music) - was made a bard of the Cornish Gorseth for services to music in Cornwall.
